Travelport Enables e-ticketing in 6 African non-BSP Countries
Travelport expanded e-ticketing capability to Galileo subscribers in Africa, enabling approved travel agents for six African and European airlines to issue and amend e-tickets in five countries in which there is no bank settlement plan.
The countries are Angola, Burundi, Cape Verde, Gambia and Rwanda.
Travelport’s Electronic Transitional Automated Ticketing system provides travel agents and airlines with an automated method of reconciling ticketing outside of the BSP. Travelport said the tickets are easily issued and amended.
ETAT was first implemented for Brussels Airlines in Rwanda a few months ago. It has now been rolled out for the airline in Angola, Gambia and Burundi.
Both RwandAir and Kenya Airways have also adopted ETAT in Rwanda and Burundi.
Kenya Airways became the first airline to offer Travelport’s ETAT solution in Africa in June 2009. South African Airways, Brussels Airlines and TAAG, an Angolan airline, also offer ETAT to their agents in Angola.
ETAT is also the e-ticketing solution for TACV in Cape Verde.
