$10 Billion Infrastructure Upgrade at Montréal-Trudeau Airport
by Catherine Maisonneuve
Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) will undergo a $10 billion renovation over the next ten years.
With passenger volumes surpassing pre-pandemic levels and recording the strongest growth among major Canadian airports, ADM Aéroports de Montréal has launched Flight Plan 2028–2035, in partnership with Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) for a 10-year, $10 billion investment plan to meet that demand.
Improving access to the airport and building new airside infrastructure will enhance trade and travel both domestically and internationally.
City-side improvements include the reconfiguration of airport access roads, the construction of new parking areas, drop-off and pick-up points, and a new building connecting the future YUL–Montréal-Trudeau Airport REM station to the terminal.
Improvements to the terminal and airside facilities include systems to increase baggage handling capacity and the construction of a new satellite pier with additional boarding gates and passenger processing areas.
Other improvements include new infrastructure to optimize flight operations, including new taxiways and aprons to ensure sufficient capacity and operational flexibility.
With passenger volumes expected to reach 25 million by 2028 and between 30 and 35 million by 2035, it was essential to continue investing in this strategic infrastructure.
