5Continents Fam ‘Slow Cruised’ Through France with CroisiEurope

by Bruce Parkinson  September 04, 2025
5Continents Fam ‘Slow Cruised’ Through France with CroisiEurope

5Continents fam group barged through France with CroisiEurope.

Earlier this summer, 5Continents took a group of 20 Canadian travel advisors to the Alsace region of France for an immersive FAM trip escorted by Tammy Olivier, BDM for Western Canada, in collaboration with trusted partner CroisiEurope.

Over the course of the week, the group experienced the art of slow cruising. Olivier says the itinerary featured unique experiences and exceptional French cuisine, and demonstrated how barge cruising is perfect for small groups or special interest trips.

“Sailing through the Alsace region on the MS Madeleine was the perfect way to showcase the unique charm and intimacy of barge cruising,” said Olivier. “Our advisors experienced first-hand how the slow pace, exceptional cuisine, and warm hospitality create an unforgettable journey for clients looking for something truly special.”

CroisiEurope’s MS Madeleine hosted the 5Continents fam group.

Highlights included:

  • Panoramic canal tour of Strasbourg, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • The Antzwiller Inclined Plane.
  • Glass blowing demonstration at Crystal Lehrer.
  • Saverne walking tour and the Chateau de Haut-barr.
  • Vins d’Alsace Domaine Bohr tour and wine tasting.
  • A private dinner at La Marne to experience authentic Tartes Flambees.
  • Visit to the Maison du Kochersberg Museum for a feel of Alsace traditions.
  • Gala evening with special guests David Boigne and Sabrina Greca.

“What a fabulous experience on our 5Continents/CroisiEurope river barge cruise,” said Stephen Harper of Travel Best Bets. “Gentle canals passing through verdant green French countryside. Quaint towns, farms, castles as far as your eyes could see. Delectable cuisine by our personal chef, and such outstanding service by our crew on this intimate boat.”

Wendy Weir from Farmstead Travel had this to say: “The barge experience is like an upscale houseboat. This is a fantastic experience for a group, family, or even a corporate getaway for 6 nights. The food is amazing — it’s like going to a friend’s house for dinner, a French friend who happens to be a Michelin-star chef, serving 4-course lunches.”
