Limited Availability on Aurora’s 2027 Women’s Only Antarctic Expedition

Lola Akinmade Åkerström is set to bring a powerful voice and global perspective to the expedition.

Women looking to up the ante in their travel exploration may want to join Aurora Expeditions’ Antarctic Direct: Fly the Drake Fly/Fly Women’s Only Expedition which departs February 23, 2027.

A celebration of women, the sailing will be hosted by Lola Akinmade Åkerström, international best-selling author and will feature special guest and former astronaut Dr. Sandra H. “Sandy” Magnus aboard the Sylvia Earle. The Sylvia Earles is Aurora Expeditions’ state-of-the-art small ship dedicated to legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle; the ship itself honours six pioneering women in conservation.

Lola has received numerous prestigious accolades, including being named on the Conde Nast Traveler Women Who Travel Power List, Newsweek Future of Travel Award for Storytelling, and MIPAD 100 (Most Influential People of African Descent).

“This is more than a trip; it’s a community of women coming together to explore one of the most pristine places on the planet,” said Åkerström. “I’m honored to host this transformational journey and help foster new stories, friendships, and memories in the awe-inspiring landscapes of Antarctica.”

Departing February 23, 2027, during the late Antarctic summer, which is a prime time for wildlife activity and dramatic landscapes, this expedition promises stunning scenery, from towering glaciers to lively penguins, all set against golden polar sunsets. Participants will fly both ways across the notorious Drake Passage, maximizing their time on the seventh continent.

Limited spots available. For full itinerary visit: https://www.aurora-expeditions.com/expedition/womens-expedition-fly-the-drake
