Disney Cruise Line will no longer offer the Disney Vacation Protection Plan to guests outside the United States.

Disney announced the change in a policy update this week, sent to travel partners and seen by TMR. Effective immediately, guests who want to purchase the Vacation Protection Plan must have their booking origin, or agency, in the U.S. or Canada, must pay in U.S. dollars, and must have a U.S. address.

Disney says the changes are part of a “policy update” to the Vacation Protection Plan.

Disney said it will honor any reservations with the plan already purchased but will not offer it for future bookings. Guests who remove the plan from current reservations will not be able to add it back unless they meet the updated requirements.

The Vacation Protection Plan covers guests for emergencies before and during their vacation. It’s offered through a partnership with Arch Insurance Co. and includes some cancel-for-any-reason coverage along with emergency assistance services worldwide.
