NCL Makes Waves: Derek Lloyd on the New Great Tides Waterpark

by John Kirk  September 08, 2026

I was on hand last week for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay. Government dignitaries and senior executives from Norwegian Cruise Line gathered bright and early on Monday, September 1, to officially open the new waterpark.

Following the ceremony, I had the opportunity to chat with Toronto-based Derek Lloyd, Vice President, Strategic and National Accounts at Norwegian Cruise Line, for a candid one-on-one conversation.

We covered a lot of ground, including what Great Tides brings to the guest experience, what it will cost to enjoy the new waterpark, the value of NCL’s Free at Sea program and more.

I hope you enjoy the conversation.
