Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has entered into an agreement with Fincantieri for three new cruise ships, one each for Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas.

NCL’s newbuild will be a sister ship to the previously announced NCL newbuild order, while the new vessel for Oceania will be a sister ship to Oceania Sonata and the new vessel for RSSC will be a sister ship to Seven Seas Prestige.

All three ships will be built at Fincantieri’s shipyards in Italy and delivered between 2036 (RSSC) and 2037 (NCL and Oceania).

“Together with Fincantieri, a trusted partner for decades, we continue to advance a disciplined approach to fleet growth that builds on the strength of our brands, defines the future of cruising and elevates the guest experience for years to come,” said John W. Chidsey, the newly announced president and CEO of NCLH. “This agreement secures access to valuable shipyard capacity through the end of 2037, supporting our long-term growth while maintaining financial discipline and driving sustainable shareholder value.”

The newbuild for Regent Seven Seas cruises will be the fourth vessel in its Prestige Class, which debuts later this year with Seven Seas Prestige in December 2026, followed by a second and third vessel in 2030 and 2033, respectively.

According to the NCLH, the ship order supports its long-term growth pipeline and competitive position with modest initial capital outlay, allowing it to remain focused on strengthening the balance sheet and reducing leverage. The agreement is not expected to have a material impact on near-term leverage or cashflow, as pre-delivery payment obligations are immaterial until the ship is delivered.

“It is with great excitement that we announce a fourth Prestige‑Class ship—an investment that underscores our commitment to leading the ultra‑luxury cruise market for the decade ahead and beyond,” said Jason Montague, chief luxury office at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. “When Seven Seas Prestige went on sale in June 2025, we enjoyed the biggest single booking day for the launch of a new ship in our history. We are confident that each ship in this remarkable class will be equally sought‑after, offering guests the most luxurious way to explore the world.”

Speaking of the Oceania newbuild, Montague continued, “The record-setting demand for Oceania Sonata affirms that travelers are seeking choice, connection and authentic experiences.  The addition of a fifth Sonata Class ship allows us to provide our guests even more enriching, experiential travel opportunities.”

With this agreement, NCLH now has a total of 17 newbuilds on order: eight for NCL through 2037, five for Oceania though 2037, and four for RSSC through 2036.

This newbuild pipeline supports an expected 4% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2026 through 2037.
