Secret Atlas Launches Small Group Adventures Ever Offered in Antarctica and South Georgia

Secret Atlas Launches Small Group Adventures Ever Offered in Antarctica and South Georgia

As Canadian interest in polar expeditions continues to grow, Secret Atlas has launched the smallest group sizes ever offered to Antarctica and South Georgia with departures starting from October 2026.

“We’ve definitely noticed growing interest from Canadian travellers in our small-group expeditions,” Michele D’Agostino, Co-Founder of Secret Atlas told Travel Market Report Canada. “Canada has a very strong culture of outdoor adventure, and many travellers are looking to take that passion further afield, whether to Antarctica, South Georgia, or Svalbard or Greenland.

Over the past year, we’ve seen a steady increase in inquiries and bookings from Canada, reflecting a wider trend in the expedition cruise sector where Canadians are seeking immersive, low-impact ways to experience the polar regions.”

With a cap of only 42 guests, it is the only operator offering Expedition Micro Cruises from Puerto Natales, combining an exclusive Fly-Cruise with a two-and-a-half-hour charter flight over the Drake Passage to King George Island.

“At Secret Atlas we’ve built our entire philosophy around Expedition Micro Cruises because we believe the polar regions deserve to be explored slowly, respectfully, and in the smallest groups possible,” said

“By limiting our voyages to just 42 guests, we’re offering something that larger ships simply cannot: more time ashore, more space in zodiacs, and genuine freedom to follow wildlife and weather conditions as they unfold. It’s an experience that is highly personal, unhurried, and deeply immersive,” adds D’Agostino.

“This is the future of polar exploration, impactful experiences shared with a small community of like-minded explorers, led by experts and carried out while leaving the smallest footprint possible. The raw beauty of Antarctica and South Georgia experienced the way it should be.”

Sailing aboard the MV Polar Athena, a robust, ice-strengthened expedition vessel, guests enjoy both safety and comfort. The ship features modern amenities including ensuite cabins, a stylish lounge, restaurant, sauna, and hot tub—ensuring a seamless balance of adventure and relaxation.
