Affordable Adults-Only Option in Fiji: Lomani Island Resort & Spa

Affordable Adults-Only Option in Fiji: Lomani Island Resort & Spa

Travel advisors may think of Fiji as one of the more expensive destinations to visit, but there are some more affordable options for clients who want to discover the island but not break the bank.

The Raffe Hotel Group is one of those options. A family-owned business since 1969, their portfolio features three properties; Plantation Island Resort, the Adults-only Lomani Island Resort & Spa located next door and Fiji Gateway located near the Nadi airport. All resorts are on Mamanuca Islands, which is about a 20 minute boat ride from the Nadi port, West of Fiji’s main island Viti Levu.

Travel Market Report Canada visited Lomani Island Resort & Spa earlier this month on a pre-FAM before the Fiji Tourism Exchange (FTE).

Rooms at Lomani are bright and spacious and feature an outdoor shower, with some having plunge pools.

“We’re not trying to be top luxury, but we’re definitely just trying to elevate that experience,” Rebecca Freestun Astier, Communications, Lomani Island Resort & Spa told us during FTE.

“We are a little bit more of an authentic, high end heading towards luxury experience. But we also want to own who we are; we’re a very small boutique operation, and we’re not part of a big chain.”

Like many resorts in Fiji, Lomani Island Resort & Spa is a small property, with only 30 rooms, 10 of those with plunge pools. The rooms have been recently updated and so has the spa. A brand-new build, the “jungle spa” as it’s called by the company, replaced the previous one which was designed by an Australian spa expert and located in an empty bure, and now offers six treatment rooms.

“We have elevated our spa experience with what we call a purpose built, jungle spa that focuses on wellness in Fiji,” says Freestun Astier. “We collaborated with some of the best spa experts in Fiji to design the space and make it truly authentic.  We use NAMA products, which are made from sea grapes to help bring the local culture into our spa.”

In addition to the six treatment rooms, there is a sauna and ice bath and plunge pool to relax in after your treatment.  Also available are detoxifying wraps, scrubs and full-body renewals.

Breakfast is included in rates, and lunch and dinner menu features fresh food made from local ingredients.

The resort has three room categories: Beachfront Pool Bure (with plunge pool), Beachfront Bure and Deluxe Suite Bure.  All are spacious and feature an outdoor shower.  Rates include breakfast and packages are available for surfing, romantic dinners and other activities.

Getting to Lomani Island Resort & Spa from Nadi International Airport is easy – guests can take the Malolo Cat, Malolo Lailai Island’s own high-speed catamaran to the Mamanuca Islands.
