The Islands of Tahiti will reopen its borders to U.S. travelers starting on May 1 and while many travelers will be able to travel to the islands unencumbered, Tahiti Tourism this week announced requirements that all inbound travelers should be aware of.
Tahiti, which had its borders closed by the French government since February, will welcome travelers who are vaccinated against COVID-19 or show proof of COVID antibodies upon their arrival. Those travelers will be able to travel into Tahiti without quarantines.
Travelers who do not have proof of vaccination or do not have antibodies, including children under 16-years-old, will have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival. While all travelers will have to present an Antigen test upon arrival, only those not vaccinated or without antibodies will have to quarantine starting on May 1.
Tahiti announced the changes on Thursday and provided a factsheet on its website so that inbound tourists will be able to know what requirements they need to meet for their vacation.
All travelers, aside from the testing requirements, will need to register on ETIS, the official website of Tahiti.
