Starting Today, Vaccinated Disney World Guests Can Take Off Masks

In another sign that things are moving back towards the pre-COVID normal, starting today, Walt Disney World in Florida officially letting vaccinated guests take off their face masks in most places on property.
Disney is allowing vaccinated guests to take off their masks most other places, doing away with a rule that has been in place since the resort reopened after its two-month COVID shut down last May.
While other COVID-era rules do remain in place including a rule against hugging characters and a rule requiring face masks on Disney transportation, including its buses, boats, monorails, and Skyline, the face mask requirement is slowly being wound down at Disney.
Non-vaccinated guests, including those under 12-years-old who are yet to become eligible for the vaccine in the United States, will still be required to wear their facemasks in most indoor places and on all rides and attractions.
Disney, on its website, said that it would not be requiring proof of vaccination from guests.
“While face coverings are required for all Guests while in Disney buses, monorail, and Disney Skyliner, they are now optional in most areas for Guests who are fully vaccinated. While we do not require proof of vaccination, we expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations and upon entering and throughout all attractions and transportation,” Disney’s new guidelines read.
The move comes ahead of what is expected to be a big year for the Walt Disney Company. Aside from a couple of upcoming animated movie releases, Disney’s Florida parks are set to celebrate the delayed 50th anniversary of the resort starting in October.
