New Booking App Offers Unlimited Flights for Flat Fee
by Daniel McCarthy /The first-ever booking app to offer unlimited flights on major airlines for a flat monthly fee is officially in business.
Think Netflix, but instead of paying $8 per month for unlimited movie streaming, the app—called OneGo—offers unlimited domestic flights on plans starting at $2,950 a month, and regional plans starting at $1,500.
More than 700 routes among 76 airports on major airlines are included. Users can earn frequent-flyer miles, choose seats, and redeem upgrades via the app.
For the moment, OneGo is available only for mobile phones, and requires that reservations and changes be made at least seven days in advance. But the company said a desktop version will be available by June and improvements—including possibly a travel-agent version—are on the drawing board.
Taking price out of the equation is the first step toward putting a flyer’s needs first, the company says. When you replace price with a flat monthly fee, “you gain the freedom to fly as much as you need for your business without having to consider anything other than your flight’s arrival and departure times,” said founder and CEO Paulius Grigas in a press release announcing the launch.
While larger companies might benefit from “preferential treatment and pricing” from the airlines, OneGo’s target audience is the small to mid-sized businesses who do not.
At the moment, OneGo is built as a personal-use tool, but spokesperson Dina Binney told TMR the company is looking at how to adapt it for travel managers and travel agents. “Our goal is to eventually have it where one to two people can have an account and control others on corporate accounts,” she said.
