TRX Sells Booking Tool to nuTravel
by Michèle McDonaldTRX Inc., a major provider of technology for travel agencies and travel management companies, sold its online booking tool ResX to nuTravel Technology Solutions.
Nine-year-old nuTravel had been a competitor of TRX, offering the CTS Online Booking Tool in the North American market.
With the acquisition, nuTravel’s client base will grow to 115 distributors, supporting more than 2,300 small, medium and large corporations with a total of 1.5 million travelers.
TRX said it will continue to focus on data analytics and agency automation “as key drivers to support our goals of helping our clients drive efficiencies and reduce costs.”
Referral agreement
TRX and nuTravel also agreed on a mutual referral agreement whereby customers of both companies can purchase bundled booking and expense solutions and other products and services offered by both firms.
Carmine Carpanzano, president and chief executive officer of nuTravel, promised a smooth transition with minimal impact to current ResX users.
“We plan to keep in place many aspects of clients’ current relationship with TRX, from technical support to the way customers access the ResX booking platform, while we determine how best to integrate the products,” he said.
Customer support
“Customers will still talk to the same ResX technical people at the same phone numbers and websites,” he said. NuTravel will assume the customer relationship aspect immediately, however.
Carpanzano said ResX is a “terrific product – definitely a much more mature product.” NuTravel, on the other hand, is “a newer company in the space,” so its corporate booking tool was built with newer technologies, such as Java, that were developed for the Internet.
Down the road, nuTravel may look at combining the best features of each product, he said, but “it’s business as usual” for the immediate future.
