Carnival Freedom will return to service following a 35-day dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France, debuting a new whale tail funnel, expanded casino, and more. The ship had been without a whale tail since a fire in March 2024. The new whale tail features a lower height to allow access to additional ports.
During the dry dock, the ship also received several enhancements to the onboard experience, including a redesigned casino with more than 100 additional gaming machines, a refreshed video arcade, updated retail spaces, and accessibility improvements throughout the ship. Freedom also now showcases Carnival’s new “From Sea to Shining Sea” bow crest, celebrating the line’s position as America’s cruise line.
Carnival Freedom will arrive to Barcelona, Spain, on Oct. 9 and will welcome guests aboard for an eight-day Mediterranean cruise before going on a 13-day Carnival Journeys transatlantic voyage. It will arrive in Port Canaveral on Oct. 30, where it will homeport through May 2027, before repositioning to Norfolk, Virginia.
Carnival has opened reservations for Freedom’s new 2028/29 season with itineraries departing from Norfolk, Virginia through April 2029. Sailings range form six to eight days and visit ports in The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean, and Canada.
