Celestyal Cancels More Mediterranean Cruises, Ships Still Trapped in Middle East
by Dori Saltzman
Both of Celestyal’s ships remain stuck in the Middle East.
With both the Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey stuck in the Middle East – UAE and Qatar, respectively – the line has been forced to cancel yet more Mediterranean cruises.
This next round of cancellations includes the April 4, seven-night Heavenly Greece, Italy, and Croatia sailing onboard Celestyal Journey, as well as the April 4, 14-night Mediterranean Icons on Celestyal Journey, and the April 6 four-night Iconic Greek Islands sailing on Celestyal Discovery.
The line has already had to cancel four Celestyal Discovery sailings, but these are the first Celestyal Journeys departures to be canceled.
Guests booked on all canceled departures will be offered the choice of a full refund or a future cruise credit to use on a future sailing. Affected guests are asked to contact their original travel provider to discuss the available options and next steps.
The line continues to monitor developments and hopes to bring its ships to the Mediterranean as soon as possible, but the Strait of Hormuz, which the ships need to cross in order to reach Europe, remains functionally closed for the foreseeable future.
