Celestyal Cruises to Retire Celestyal Olympia, Replace with Newer Ship
by Dori Saltzman /Hot on the heels of the addition of a newer, bigger cruise ship earlier this fall, Celestyal Cruises announced it will be adding another new ship early next year. The former AIDA ship will be renamed Celestyal Discovery and will join the fleet in March 2024, replacing Celestyal Olympia.
“Given strong market and business conditions, we are thrilled to have expedited the renewal of our fleet to welcome the Celestyal Discovery into the Celestyal family,” said Chris Theophilides, CEO. “As a confident challenger brand, our team is excited to continue to make waves across the industry next season, with a refreshed fleet, brand, network, and a renewed sense of direction.”
Ahead of the 2024 season, which begins in March, both the Celestyal Journey, which joined the fleet in September, and Celestyal Discovery will undergo multimillion-euro refurbishments.
Built in 20023, Celestyal Discovery can accommodate 1,266 guests in 633 staterooms – 62 of which have balconies. It will showcase many of the features familiar to previous Celestyal cruisers including am amphitheater, the “Grillseekers” specialty restaurant, Sozo wellness retreat, and expansive pool deck. The ship will also have a Greek deli and a “Fig and Honey” gelato and juice bar.
Celestyal Discovery’s 2024 season goes on sale starting Dec. 11, 2023, taking over the Celestyal Olympia’s 2024 program.
Guests currently holding reservations on the Celestyal Olympia will be contacted and re-accommodated on Celestyal Discovery.
