Humanoid Robots Join The Costa Cruises Crew

Costa Cruises’ Costa Diadema will set sail this week with five new crew members.

Costa has added five humanoid robots, called “Pepper,” to entertain dance, play games, take selfies and interact with guests during the western Mediterranean sailing.

Pepper also will be able to answer guests’ questions about the ship and onboard services, including restaurants, bars, excursions, activities, the spa, shops and itineraries.

“Our goal is to amaze people who choose to spend their holidays with us, and to go beyond their expectations and offer something unforgettable. I am convinced that being able to interact with Pepper will be an incredible experience for all our guests,” Costa president Neil Palomba said.

Five more robots will sail on the Costa Fascinosa in September.
