Royal Caribbean diners who chose to make a reservation for a specialty restaurant then decide not to show up will now be subject to an extra fee.
The policy change was first sent to travel advisors and reported on by Royal Caribbean Blog.
In the email sent to advisors, the cruise line said the new fleetwide policy is designed to “preserve these limited seats for clients eager to experience our exclusive, limited-capacity dining options.”
“By encouraging guests to honor their reservations, we aim to enhance the overall experience.”
According to a spokesperson for Royal Caribbean, guests must cancel their reservations at least 24 hours ahead of time to avoid the fee.
Clients in Star Class suites or those who have made their reservation using a Dining Package are exempt from the new policy. Cruisers who pre-booked and pre-paid for their reservation online before their cruise are not exempt.
The fee is $50 per person for Supper Clubs, Omakase, Royal Railway, Hibachi/Teppanyaki, and Chefs Table no-shows. The Celebration Table no-show fee is 50% of the base cost of the reservation, and the fee for all other venues is $25 per person.
