by Daniel McCarthy  October 14, 2016

Star in New York.

Viking Star, the first ship from Viking Ocean Cruises, sailed into New York on Thursday as part of the its inaugural voyage.

With its arrival, the ship, which commemorated its first U.S. port of call in Boston on Oct. 11, became the first Viking Ocean ship to sail into a North American port.

Viking Ocean ships feature all-veranda staterooms, a covered pool and an infinity pool, Viking’s LivNordic Spa and multiple dining choices, including The Restaurant, the World Café and the Chef’s Table. Guests receive complimentary beer and wine, Wi-Fi, self-service laundry, and 24-hour room service.

Star will sail this weekend to San Juan, Puerto Rico—with TMR editor Cheryl Rosen on board as part of a press contingent. From there, it will sail an 11-day West Indies Explorer itinerary with calls in the British Virgin Islands, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, Guadeloupe, St. Kitts, St. Martin and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
