Windstar Christens Star Seeker; its First New-Build Yacht in Star Class Fleet
by Marsha Mowers
Windstar Cruises has debuted its newest all-suite yacht, Star Seeker in Miami, setting sail on its christening voyage from Miami to San Juan.
In 2026, the new yacht will operate in the Caribbean and Alaska before moving to Japan and Southeast Asia, with a strong focus on immersive experiences in Thailand and Vietnam, key regions for its travellers.
Star Seeker is the first new build in Windstar’s Star Class fleet, carrying just 224 guests in 112 spacious suites. Purpose-built for immersive, small-ship cruising, the yacht features a high percentage of verandas and floor-to-ceiling infinity windows, including two new aft-facing Horizon Owner’s Suites with wraparound balconies.
Key onboard highlights include:
- Five included dining venues
- World-class spa with a dramatic two-deck entrance
- Reimagined Marina with direct ocean access
- Elevated suite amenities, including walk-in mosaic glass showers and premium in-suite offerings
In 2027, Star Seeker returns to Alaska with itineraries such as 7-Day Scenic Alaska and 10-Day Alaskan Splendor, and to Japan with the 10-Day Grand Japan sailing. Enhancements include a new Destination Discovery Event in Tomonoura and the introduction of a Windstar Mystery Cruise.
Debuting in December 2026, Star Explorer—sister ship to Star Seeker—will expand Windstar’s small-ship presence in Europe year-round. Also accommodating 224 guests, the yacht is designed to access ports and city centres unavailable to larger ships, including London (via the Thames), Bordeaux, Rouen, and Caen.
Her deployment includes the British Isles, Ireland, the Baltics, Norway’s fjords, France, Northern Spain, and Portugal, with port-intensive itineraries featuring longer stays and overnights in destinations such as Stockholm, Tallinn, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, and Biarritz. Windstar firsts include Puerto Banús, the marina gateway to Marbella.
On board, Star Explorer mirrors Star Seeker’s relaxed yet refined atmosphere, offering 112 all-suite accommodations, Horizon Owner’s Suites, World Spa by Windstar, complimentary watersports from the Marina, and open dining.
