Carnival Rethinks Its 2014 Deployments

Carnival Cruise Lines will shift its ship deployments in spring 2014, moving the Carnival Sunshine from New Orleans to Port Canaveral in April. The Carnival Sunshine recently underwent a $155 million renovation.
The Carnival Dream will move from Port Canaveral to New Orleans, to operate year-round beginning in April 2014. The move creates a 22% capacity increase for Carnival on week-long sailings from New Orleans.
The Carnival Liberty will begin year-round Caribbean sailings in May 2014 from Port Canaveral, as well. Later in 2014, the Carnival Pride will move from Baltimore to Tampa for seven-day cruises from Dec. 2014 to April 2015.
Regent Refurbishes Seven Seas Voyager
Regent Seven Seas Cruises will perform a multimillion-dollar refurbishment of the Seven Seas Voyager during a scheduled dry dock, beginning Oct. 14, in Marseille. All penthouse suites will be redecorated, along with new furniture and surfaces in public areas. The ship’s new look will be on display when she sets sail on Oct. 23 on the 10-night Lands of Myths, Seas of Fables cruise from Rome to Venice.
New Ship From Sanctuary
Sanctuary Cruises announced its newest ship, Sanctuary Ananda, will set sail in Myanmar in late 2014. The custom-built, all-suite 48-guest ship will sail the Mandalay-Bagan stretch of the Upper Ayeyarwady River, as well as the Chindwin River. Eight itineraries are planned, priced from $2,622 per person, double, for three-night departures on Dec. 3, 10, and 17, 2014.
Royal Caribbean Offers Onboard Credit
For sailings between now and Sept. 30, Royal Caribbean is offering an onboard credit of up to $50 per stateroom. Guests staying in interior or oceanview staterooms will receive $25, while balcony and suite guests receive $50. The sale applies to all new individual U.S. and Canadian bookings.
Paul Gauguin Goes Whale Watching
Paul Gauguin is offering an 11-night Australs & Society Islands voyage on the m/s Paul Gauguin, departing this fall to visit prime locations for humpback whale viewing. The voyage will visit Moorea in the Society Islands and Rurutu, an island in the Australs. The 11-night cruise is priced from $5,395 per person including airfare from Los Angeles.
Le Soléal Sails Maiden Voyage
Compagnie Du Ponant’s new luxury small ship, Le Soléal, set sail for its first commercial sailing. The 264-passenger vessel will be operated in conjunction with Tauck, along with sister vessels L’Austral and Le Boréal.
