Family Travel Association To Welcome Agent Members This Year
by Richard D’Ambrosio /The Family Travel Association (FTA) this year will open up membership to travel agents, with plans to offer a two-tiered platform for agents with extensive experience, and another tier for agents aspiring to focus on this niche.
Founder and president Rainer Jenss told Travel Market Report that the organization is planning a “soft rollout” this spring. The first tier will be based on the depth of experience an agent has serving the family travel market, while the second tier will be more “inclusive.” No other details were available at press time.
“We don’t want to serve only those with credentials,” Jenss said. “We know there are so many agents behind those expert in this market who aspire to work with families more extensively, so we will include membership for them too.”
The three-year-old organization does have about twelve travel agency members, but they have joined as general members. The organization mostly has been focused on developing its supplier and media membership up until this year.
Jenss said that the FTA will be developing a toolkit and training resources with its current supplier membership, about ten travel agents who are part of the organization’s Travel Agent Council, and the American Society of Travel Agents.
This Memorial Day weekend, the FTA will be hosting this select group of Travel Agent Council members at the Averill’s Flathead Lake Lodge, in Bigfork, MT, for a FAM and strategy session.
Rainer Jenss will be a general session speaker at TMR’s Travel Marketplace, a unique peer-to-peer learning experience in Toronto June 13-14. Click here for more information.
