Gap Adventures Rebrands as G Adventures

Adventure Firm Abandons Fight With Clothing Co.
Gap Adventures changed its name to G Adventures after a lengthy battle with clothing company Gap Inc. Founder Bruce Poon Tip reversed earlier plans to fight a court order to change the name. Rebranding as G Adventure would reflect the company’s “evolutionary and revolutionary step into the future,” he said. The company’s website is now Gadventures.com; the agent login can be found at Gadventures.com/Sherpa. All email addresses change to @gadventures.com.

Former Cruise West Chair Launches Tour Firm
Dick West, the former chairman of now defunct Cruise West, is launching a new tour company, Explor Tours. The company will initially offer itineraries in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador and Peru.

Super Value Tours Resigns from USTOA

Super Value Tours Inc. has resigned its membership in USTOA, citing the downturn of travel to Japan over the past year. The resignation means that Super Value Tours no longer participates in the USTOA $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program.

Globus Unveils Ongoing Promotions
The Globus family of brands is introducing several standing discounts for travelers who book early, book in groups and book more often. Among the new promotions: Book Early & Save; Loyalty Discounts; Second Tour Discount; Small Group Savings; Young Traveler Discounts; and Triple Room Reduction.

Funjet Launches Panama Programs
Funjet Vacations added Panama to its destinations, with scheduled air service via American Airlines, United, Delta, US Airways and Copa Airlines to Tocumen International Airport (PTY). The new Panama offering includes 15 hotels (from 2.5 stars and up) located in three main destination zones – Panama City, the rainforest, and the beach. Agents can offer options that include city and canal tours, indigenous community encounters, and cross-country train excursions. Educational webinars on the new destination will be available soon.

IsramWorld Announces 2012 ‘Woman’s View’ Programs
IsramWorld announced the lineup of 2012 itineraries for its Woman’s View division, including a new safari program in Kenya and Tanzania, as well as two new programs in Latin America. Also new, though still in development, journeys in Spain and Morocco. Enabling travelers to meet local women on a one-to-one basis will be featured in the 2012 programs. A Woman’s View also reprises tours in China, India, Israel, Central Europe and Russia.

Collette Adds Thailand, Scotland/Ireland and Israel
Collette added new tours to Thailand, Scotland and Ireland, as well as to Israel. The 14-day Flavors of Thailand itinerary combines traditional site visits with off-the-beaten track experiences, such as a pre-dawn visit to a local market where travelers participate in offering alms to monks. Also new is a 12-day Exploring Scotland and Ireland tour, which includes two nights in Belfast. A third new tour is the 10-day Israel: A Journey to the Holy Land, with an optional four-day post-tour extension in Jordan.

General World Tours Adds 20 Tours for 2012
General World Tours’ 2012-13 catalog features 20 new itineraries among its 70 privately guided and small ship journeys and river cruises. New programs are available in the Amazon, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.

Island Routes Expands Its Caribbean Excursions to Barbados
Island Routes Caribbean Adventure Tours now offers a variety of excursions in Barbados, its sixth Caribbean destination. Among the offerings are the Turtles at Sunset Cruise, a snorkel Lunch Cruise, Atlantis by Day submarine excursion, and the Bajan Life Lunch Cruise, among many others.

Insight Introduces Poland Itinerary
Insight Vacations added a new Polish tour to its 2012 Eastern Europe collection. The 10-day Highlights of Poland includes stops in Krakow, Zakopane, Auschwitz, Wrocklaw, Poznan, Torun, Gdansk, Sopot, Malbork and Warsaw.
