Seven Quintessential Reasons For Your Clients To Visit Canada This Year

by Richard D’Ambrosio  January 18, 2017
In honor of Canada’s 150th birthday this year, Hotels.com compiled a list of seven popular Canadian experiences you can use to entice your clients to join the party.

1. See the Northern Lights with your naked eye
Light-polluted cities blot out the heavens in and around most cities, but in Canada’s north travelers can see the stars. On most clear nights during the winter they can experience the aurora borealis, “ghostly, shifting streams of colored light” caused by charged particles from the sun striking the earth’s atmosphere. Northern Tales offers several viewing packages.

2. Get soaked at the base of the Niagara Falls
Get up close and get wet on one of Hornblower’s cruises. They take guests to the base of the Horseshoe Falls, where a deafening 600,000 gallon-a minute torrent and soaking spray thrills.

3. See polar bears up close
A symbol of Canada’s north country, polar bears are accessible in Churchill, Manitoba. Churchill Wild is one of several outfitters who can get your clients up close and personal.

4. Play hockey
Pinnacle Hockey offers the Canadian Hockey Player Experience for anyone curious about what it takes to play the game. As a bonus, Canmore is right on the edge of the Canadian Rockies.

5. Paddle the rapids in the Northwest Territories
Outfitters abound for anyone looking to navigate down a river and take in the great Canadian outdoors. Canoe North Advenutres operates on the pristine Keele River in the remote Northwest Territories.

6. Fish for lobster off Prince Edward Island
Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, affords travelers the opportunity to haul in a lobster trap and harvest these delectable crustaceans with the fourth-generation lobster fishermen that operate Top Notch Lobster Tours.

7. Cross the country by train
VIA Rail offers a three-day, four-night trans-Canada journey aboard The Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver, where riders can watch the window scenery transform.
