The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that five new airlines will be added to the list of approved PreCheck carriers.

The new airlines are Air France, Brussels Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Philippine Airlines, and World Atlantic. With the additions, the TSA has now approved 47 total carriers for its PreCheck program.

Travel industry groups have long been in support of PreCheck expansion. Both the Global Business Gravel Association (GBTA) and the U.S. Travel Association lobbied for the TSA modernization Act last year.

That bill, which would update security technology and expand the PreCheck program, remains in the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.

PreCheck gives flyers an opportunity to go through security without taking off their shows, belts, or light jackets, and without taking laptops and 3-1-1 liquids out of their bags. The program costs $85 for five years ($17 per year).

More than 5 million passengers are enrolled in PreCheck.
