Universal Studios Japan Holds Event Promoting Super Nintendo World in NYC

Universal employees and guests at Grand Central Station in New York on Wednesday.

Universal Studios Japan held a promotional event in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal this week to get the word out about the new Super Nintendo World opening this summer.

The event gave dozens of eager Nintendo fans the chance to participate in the Super Nintendo World Challenge, which offered the lucky winners a trip for two to Japan for an exclusive preview of Super Nintendo World before it opens. During the event, dozens of participants punched life-sized versions of the iconic “?” Blocks in an effort to win.

“Today we’re going to give eight lucky winners a chance to take a trip for two to Universal Studios Japan to take an exclusive early preview of Super Nintendo World, opening this summer,” said Page Thompson, president and COO, international, for Universal Parks & Resorts.

“Super Nintendo World in Japan is just going to be amazing. It’s going to be an immersive, expansive authentic and highly themed land.”

The park will give guests the chance to experience some of Nintendo’s legendary worlds, characters and adventures. Parkgoers will feel as if they are playing inside their favorite Nintendo video games – in real life.

The park will be filled with unique and fun rides, shops, a restaurant and interactive gameplay, and promises to have something for everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience.

“Nintendo is the perfect partner for us in this venture,” said Thompson. “This is truly a global partnership between Universal and Nintendo. After we launch Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan, we’re going to take it to Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resorts, and finally Universal Studios Singapore.”
