ACTA and Air Canada Present Annual Travel Professional Awards
ACTA and Air Canada presented their annual travel professional awards at this year’s Travel MarketPlace conference in Toronto. The awards recognize excellence across a broad range of areas and are voted on by a judging panel appointed by ACTA. ACTA vice president Heather Craig-Peddie and Air Canada’s director of sales Steve Goodfellow were on hand to present the awards.

The Leisure Travel Agent Award, which recognizes an agent who shows versatility and has extensive knowledge of many travel options available to their clients, was awarded to Czarina Sastaunik of Uniglobe Carefree Travel in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The Corporate Travel Agent Award was awarded to Annette Frey, also of Uniglobe Carefree Travel in Saskatoon. This award is for the agent who delivers excellent service to clients, living up to expectations and demands in a timely and efficient manner.

The Tomorrow’s Leader Award recognizes a young potential indsutry leader who is a role model for other young professional and has shown a divested interest in issues that influence the future of travel. Ashley Morgan of Transat Travel in London, Ontario, recieved the award.

The Maguire-Wamsley Award was presented to Norman Payne of Custom Travel Solutions in Ottawa, Ontario. The award is given to the ACTA member who achieves the highest mark on the ACTA Certified Travel Manager (CTM) case studies.
The Ches Chard Award was established in memory of Ches Chard, who was a major player within the industry and was instrumental in establishing the first travel school in the Atlantic Provinces. This year’s award was given to Expedia CruiseShipCenters in Vancouver, B.C.

The Gerald Heifetz Trailblazer Award was established in memory of Gerald Heifetz, a lawyer who helped travel agents, business people and countless struggling immigrants through his law practice. Heifetz was instrumental in the foundation of ACTA and CITC. This year’s award was presetned to Ron Pradinuk of Renaissance Travel Inc., in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
