Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas Officially Reopens

Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas Officially Reopens

White sands and blue waters are pillars of the Bahamian tourism experience.

Sandals Emerald Bay, located in Great Exuma, The Bahamas, officially reopened its doors on Wednesday, the 11th Sandals property currently open for guests.

Spanning 500 acres with just 249 rooms and suites, Sandals Emerald Bay sits directly on a pristine mile-long white sand beach. It is home to 11 restaurants, three freshwater pools including the Caribbean’s largest zero-entry pool, and an 18-hole championship golf course.

Like all of Sandals resorts, guests staying at Emerald Bay will have access to complimentary COVID-19 testing on-site before their departing flights home. COVID-19 antigen tests are provided for U.S. residents and PCR tests are provided for Canadian and U.K. residents from the comfort of the resort.

Should a guest test positive for COVID-19, the resorts “are fully prepped with medical stations staffed daily with a registered nurse and 24/7 on-call medical personnel.”

Sandals Resorts’ has also recently extended its Cancellation Protection Benefit and Travel Protection Plan Insurance, purchased on behalf of guests, for all bookings made now through Aug. 31, 2021, for travel now through Dec. 31, 2022. It is also continuing to implement its Sandals Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness across over 18 key touchpoints, from when guests arrive, through their entire stay.

The Travel Protection Plan offers expanded medical benefits during their resort stay. It includes the extension of their stay to quarantine and covers any necessary medical treatment for up to 14 nights at no extra cost. Additional benefits of the plan include coverage of medical expenses and maximum benefits of up to $100,000 per guest.

Under the Cancellation Protection Benefit, guests can cancel their vacation at least 31 days before arrival and receive a full refund on the land portion of their vacation with zero penalties.

Guests canceling between 15 and 30 days before arrival will receive a combination of a 50% refund and a 50% travel certificate for future travel. Travelers also have the option of canceling within 14 days, up to the day of arrival, for a travel certificate valid for 12 months from the original travel date.
