IHG Opens First Crowne Plaza Hotel in El Salvador

Meeting space at the Crowne Plaza San Salvador

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has announced the opening of the Crowne Plaza San Salvador, the first of its brand in El Salvador. This is IHG’s 15th Crowne Plaza throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and its 22nd overall property in Central America.

The 194-room Crowne Plaza San Salvador is a conversion of the former Hotel El Salvador. Located in the high-end business district of Colonia Escalón, the hotel underwent significant renovations in order to meet Crowne Plaza brand standards.

Boasting 23 meetings rooms of premium event space, including the largest ballroom in the country, with capacity for 3,000 people, the property is inter-connected to the World Trade Center’s Torre Futura. Recently inaugurated and designed as a “smart” building, Torre Futura contains 19 stories of prime commercial office space along with a retail component.

At Crowne Plaza, guests can enjoy 24-hour business service and wireless high-speed Internet access as well as a comprehensive meetings program consisting of three key components: a Two Hour Response Guarantee, Crowne Meetings Director, and a Daily Meetings Debrief. (www.crowneplaza.com)

Kimpton’s Epic Hotel Launches One-Day Meeting Package

EPIC, Kimpton’s boutique waterfront hotel located in downtown Miami, has introduced the EPIC Day Meeting Package. Available for groups of 10 or more individuals at a rate of $100 per person (inclusive of tax, service charge and meeting room rental; guestrooms not included), the program is valid through September 30. Planners who book the Day Meeting Package receive audiovisual services at a 15% discount; 20% off the best available rate for guests requiring accommodations; plus catering throughout the day, provided by Area 31, recently recognized by Esquire magazine as “One of the Best New Restaurants of 2009.” Catering includes continental breakfast, a “Pick Me Up” AM break, a buffet lunch, a Latin-inspired PM break and continuous beverage service throughout the day, including coffee, tea, soft drinks and bottled water.

EPIC’s indoor meeting space and facilities are located on the hotel’s 14th floor and include eight flexible meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 300 guests. In addition, EPIC offers two state-of-the-art executive boardrooms (the Wayne Boardroom and Xavier Boardroom) that accommodate up to 10 individuals each. Both are equipped with the latest audio and visual capabilities, LCD flat-panel monitors, projections and screens, sound and lighting systems, as well as Wi-Fi accessibility. Outdoors, EPIC’s event space includes the 16th-floor wrap-around pool deck, the Lawn at EPIC, and a marina for yacht-staged functions. (www.epichotel.com)
