DWHSA Offers Training for Agents Selling LGBT Travel
The Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialists Association (DWHSA) will train its members to assist LGBT clients on how the Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage will affect them. Prior to the decision, the 37 states — and the District of Columbia — that recognized same-sex marriage allowed couples to use their marriage license to register with local officials after they returned home. Now, the 13 states which didn’t will have to start recognizing same-sex marriages from other regions, including destination weddings.
“This ruling makes it much easier for our LGBT clients to plan the destination wedding of their dreams without worrying about whether the authorities in their states will recognize the marriage once they return home,” said Lisa Sheldon, executive director of DWHSA.
