Highest-Paid CEO In The Nation Hails From The Travel Industry, WSJ Reports

by Cheryl Rosen  June 07, 2016

When you’re asking for a raise, you should compare your pay with that of others in your industry, the experts say. So how does your salary stack up against Dara Khosrowshaki’s $94.6 million?

The little-known name–and the pay check that goes with–belongs to the CEO of Expedia Inc., whose CEO compensation package ranked highest in the nation in 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported today.

The package does include $90.8 million in stock options, which Khosrowshaki in fact may not earn, noted his boss, Expedia chairman Barry Diller. The stock would have to rise from the current $111 a share to $170 by 2020 for him to get the full amount.

But the 47-year-old Iranian-born Khosrowshaki is likely to beat your salary in any case. Last year, as Expedia offered up a total shareholder return of 47%, he earned $9.6 million.
