Maupin Travel Changes Hands Again

Tzell Travel Group has acquired Maupin Travel Inc. from Trevor and Jordan Smith, according to a spokesman for Travel Leaders Group, Tzell’s parent company. The acquisition comes less than one week after a press release went out announcing the Feb. 27 sale to the Smiths of the Raleigh, N.C.-based travel management company. Trevor Smith has previous ties to Travel Leaders Group. Prior to buying Maupin Travel, he was a vice president at One Equity Partners, where he raised capital for Travel Leaders. The Smiths and Maupin’s founder Tony Maupin, CTC, will stay involved in managing the agency, according to Steve Loucks, CTC, chief communications officer for Travel Leaders Group.
