Travel Industry Veteran Stuart Lopata Passes Away
Stuart Lopata, a former member of the American Marketing Group and Travelsavers family, has passed away. Lopata worked in the travel industry for 51 years, including time as the vice president of Liberty Travel, director of sales for Affluent Traveler, and the general manager of Las Vegas’ Silverbird Hotel in the 1970s, where he reported directly to Major Riddle.
According to longtime friend Ed Fioravante, Lopata was born in the Bronx and grew up as a die-hard Jets and Yankess fan. He moved out to Long Island when he started to work with Rick Mazza, now the CEO of AMG, in the 1960s. After time spent away from the company, he returned to Travelsavers in 2000, where he worked for another eight years. He moved out to Las Vegas to work for the Maverick Aviation Group in 2009 before deciding to retire a year later.
“Stuart was a longtime friend of 46 years. His larger than life travel industry presence will be missed. Stuart brought inspiration and fun to anything he was involved with. You never forget your dear friends, Stuart was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure,” said Mazza.
