New York City Vacation Packages has ceased all business operations as of June 10, 2020 due to the coronavirus-related travel shutdown.

The family-owned full service NYC travel planning company confirmed the news on their Facebook page, saying “Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately, NYCVP has to cease business operations on June 10. If you have business with NYCVP, you will be receiving a notice from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court shortly.”

Agents who spoke with TMR said the company was “excellent” and were “helpful to me and my clients.” Overall, many advisors were saddened to hear the news.

On the NYCVP Facebook page, another agent said “We are so saddened by this news! We have enjoyed working with you over the years and have had many extremely happy clients that you have assisted with. We pray that once this is over, you may be able to find a way to come back.”

Other advisors expressed concern over securing their clients refunds, with one agent saying she had “clients who have been waiting for a refund since March 10 and was assured that they would be refunded.”

Others noted they could not get in touch with anyone from the company.

While courts will provide information on how to put in claims for money, some advisors cautioned that those don’t always come through.

The company did not appear on USTOA’s active member directory, which provides a $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program.
