The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) has honored Alex Sharpe, CEO of Signature Travel Network, with its President’s Award. The award was presented to Sharpe during Signature Travel Network’s Owners’ Meeting earlier this week.

ASTA president and CEO Zane Kerby presented the award on stage, recognizing Sharpe’s leadership and longstanding commitment to strengthening the travel agency community.

The ASTA President’s Award is a discretionary recognition presented by the president to honor individuals whose leadership and contributions advance the travel advisor profession and champion the value of travel advisors. This marks only the second time Kerby has presented the award during his almost 14-year tenure.

Sharpe recently completed his second two-year term on ASTA’s Board of Directors. In presenting the award, Kerby credited Sharpe’s wisdom, business acumen, and judgment with shaping ASTA’s direction. He also recognized Sharpe’s willingness to lend his name and credibility to the organization during a critical period in its history.

“It’s one thing to support an organization when things are going well. It takes a different kind of leader to put his own credibility behind it when the stakes are high,” Kerby said. “Alex did that for ASTA. He cares deeply about this profession, and his judgment has made us stronger. The respect he has earned extends well beyond Signature to his peers across the industry.”

“Being awarded with ASTA’s President’s Award was completely unexpected and incredibly meaningful,” said Alex Sharpe, CEO of Signature Travel Network. “I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire Signature community. ASTA’s leadership and advocacy are essential to the strength and future of our industry, and we are proud to stand alongside the organization in championing the interests of travel advisors and agencies nationwide.”

The recognition reflects Sharpe’s commitment to a strong, connected travel agency community and his belief in the essential role travel advisors play in serving travelers.
