ATPCO Will Provide Personalized Demos of Bag Fee Calculator
by Michèle McDonaldThe Air Tariff Publishing Co. is offering travel agents personalized demonstrations of ATPCO’s Baggage Calculator Online solution. The calculator was introduced last year.
Checked-bag fees have become increasingly complex. European allowances and charges are determined by weight, while U.S. carriers take the per-piece approach combined with weight limits.
For interline journeys, IATA and ATPCO have developed a complex set of rules to determine which carrier’s bag policy applies.
Eliminates surprises
ATPCO’s online Baggage Calculator enables agencies to determine bag allowances and fees for adults and children, apply frequent flyer status and determine which carrier’s rules apply.
The agent enters basic information – passenger type, frequent flyer status, etc. – and the application displays allowances.
By entering the details of the passenger’s bags, exact charges can be determined, eliminating unpleasant surprises at the airport.
The solution provides a real-time request-and-response process through an XML connection.
In all, more than 250 airlines have submitted their policies to the ATPCO database so far.
To schedule a personalize demo, agents should email Betsie White, product marketing manager, at bwhite@atpco.net.
