Sabre Launches Red App Centre With 60 Apps
by Michèle McDonaldSabre officially opened its Sabre Red App Centre, an online marketplace in which travel agents can browse for and buy tools to incorporate into their businesses.
The App Centre, which was announced in September, currently offers more than 60 Red Apps, and Sabre expects that number to grow significantly over the next few months. (See story “Sabre to Launch B2B Online App Store,” Sept. 19, 2011)
Among the apps currently available are Quick Trip Quote, which helps agents provide a cost estimate for an air, car and hotel trip in one step; Event Finder, which provides information about events related to a customer’s interests; Flight Explorer Express Edition, which incorporates real-time flight tracking and airport delay monitoring directly into the Sabre Red Workspace; and To Do List, which helps agents keep track of action items such as customer calls, emails and deadlines.
Frontline agents can browse the apps, but purchases must be made by someone with access to Agency Administrative Tools within the Sabre Red Workspace
When an app is selected for purchase, the buyer contacts the Red App developer directly to discuss payment and licensing. The developer then sets up the sale. The purchaser confirms the sale and is billed on his or her regular Sabre invoice.
Once the purchase is complete, the app becomes visible in the Agency Administrative Tools and can be assigned to the appropriate users.
