Travelport Upgrades Air Canada Desktop Tool
by Michèle McDonaldTravelport launched a revised version of Agencia, the travel agency desktop tool that enables Apollo agents in Canada to book all Air Canada fare families and optional services.
The new version enables automatic PNR creation with enhanced finishing in the Apollo system.
It also enables multicity PNRs and provides the ability to modify bookings.
Full parity
The Agencia application offers full parity with Air Canada’s fares and ancillary services and integration with the Apollo GDS.
When agents shop one-way, roundtrip, open-jaw and multicity itineraries, available options are returned from Air Canada and from other airlines in the Apollo GDS. Agents do not need to move between different systems.
Agents can also cross-shop all Air Canada fares, private fares and Flight Passes.
Automatic PNR updates
Bookings completed in Agencia, whether with Air Canada or any other carrier, are automatically added to a PNR in the Apollo GDS.
The PNR can be viewed in Galileo Desktop or with the Travelport Smartpoint App point-and-click desktop tool.
The new version of Agencia will automatically update any itinerary changes in the Apollo PNR.
The application also supports the agency’s Air Canada commission, discount and payment agreements.
Travelport strategy
Derek Sharp, Travelport president for the Americas, said the agreement with Air Canada is “completely consistent with the way Travelport is looking to partner with all airlines on merchandizing, optional ancillary sales and product differentiation.”
“We have the capability to achieve full content for all subscribers, merchandising Air Canada’s full line of products and services through APIs, and there is no bypass of either the GDS or of our travel agency partners,” Sharp said.
Travelport will not be building an Agencia for every airline. “That would be both cost-prohibitive and very inefficient for travel agencies,” a spokeswoman said.
Single user interface
Travelport Universal Desktop represents “the future single user interface to replicate this type of content and functionality, and carriers will connect through the Travelport uAPI as Air Canada has done,” she said.
“Ultimately, airlines will be able to retail their products in the way they want, but with a single user experience for agencies.”
