TSA PreCheck Adds Four New Airlines
by Briana Bonfiglio /The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded its known traveler program, TSA PreCheck, to four new airlines: Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Ethiopian Airlines, and Saudia.
Flyers with PreCheck membership can now use it on those four airlines effective immediately.
With the additions, enrolled travelers flying from the U.S. can now pass through TSA PreCheck lanes on nearly 100 different airlines at more than 200 airports across the country. The TSA says that the expedited security checkpoints cut wait times down to less than 10 minutes for 99% of TSA PreCheck passengers.
Travelers can enroll in the TSA PreCheck program through the TSA website, with prices ranging from $78 to $85 for five years. Once approved, travelers get a Known Traveler Number (KTN) which they can add to their flight reservation to gain access to TSA PreCheck lines.
PreCheck is not the same as CLEAR, which is also undergoing an expansion. CLEAR gets travelers to the front of the TSA PreCheck lanes, instead of access to those lanes. For CLEAR, individual membership cost $189 per year and family memberships cost $189 a year plus $99 per person for up to three adults
