AIDA Cruises Moving a Ship to China
AIDA Cruises will start sailing out of China next year, Carnival Corp. announced today. AIDA Cruises’ AIDAbella will sail out of Shanghai year-round starting in spring 2017. It will be the first German cruise ship to homeport in China on a year-round basis.
The services on the AIDAbella will be geared toward German-speaking guests, as is the case with the rest of its fleet, but president Felix Eichhorn said extra care also will be taken to address the needs of the Chinese market.
Carnival Corp. has already committed a number of cruise ships to the growing Chinese market. Costa and Princess both have ships home porting in the country, and AIDA and Carnival Cruise Line will operate out of China by 2017.
