Princess Cruises Tightens 100% Cancellation Fee Policy

Cruisers wishing to cancel a Princess sailing will have less time to do so if they want to get any of their money back. Starting March 4, Princess is imposing a 100% cancellation fee starting at 30 days prior to sailing. The current policy is 14 days before the cruise.

Most other cancellation fee times have also changed, giving cruisers less time to get more of their money back.

All bookings made before March 4 will follow the outgoing policy.

Princess is also changing how many cancellation fee schedules it follows. Until March 4, the line had three schedules – one for cruises of five days or less, one for cruises of six to 24 days, and one for cruises of more than 24 days. Starting March 4, the line will now only have two: one for cruises of up to 24 days and one for cruises of 25 days and longer.

Additionally, sailings that are five days or less will now have a final payment date of 90 days before the cruise, up from 75 days.

Here are the changes:

Cancellation policy for cruises of 1 to 24 days:
* 90 days or more: No cancellation fee
* 75-89 days before the cruise: 25% of total charges
* 61-74 days before the cruise: 50% of total charges
* 31-60 days before the cruise: 75% of total charges
* Within 30 days of the cruise: 100% of total charges

Cancellation policy for cruises of 25 days and longer:
* 120 days or more: No cancellation fee
* 113-119 days before the cruise: Deposit amount (30% of total charges for World Cruises)
* 61-112 days before the cruise: 50% of total charges
* Within 60 days of the cruise: 100% of total charges
