Virgin Voyages is leveling up its “Pretty Fly for a Wi-Fi” internet offering by combining its Starlink PRO service with specialized satellite service from SES.

The satellite service combines Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite coverage (referred to as MEO-LEO). When combined with Starlink PRO, the new offering will provide connectivity of up to 1.5Gbps per ship and no data consumption limits.

Virgin is the first cruise line to implement the combined service.

“Our exclusively adult cruise experiences are underpinned by unmatched levels of connectivity at sea that mirrors those available on land, so we are excited to partner with SES to offer our guests and crew this level of connectivity, which is unlike any other in the market,” said Steven Worling, senior director of infrastructure and security at Virgin Voyages.
