Carnival Venezia arrives in New York City Monday night.
When the moon’s in the sky like a big pizza pie, Carnival Venezia sails into its new homeport, New York City. The latest addition to the Carnival fleet arrived in NYC on Monday night, after a two-week transatlantic cruise that began in Barcelona.
Venezia will be officially welcomed into the fleet on Wednesday in a “Fun Italian Style” inaugural ceremony featuring the line’s first-ever ship godfather, Jay Leno.
On Thursday, the ship will mark its first departure from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, with a four-day cruise to Bermuda.
Originally built for Costa Cruises, the 4,000-passenger ship is the same class as Carnival’s Vista Class. It is the second of three Costa Cruises ships that have been or will be transferred to Carnival. After a light refurbishment, it features several new concepts for Carnival, from restaurants and bars to entertainment programming.
