Cirque Eloize to Headline Sun Princess Entertainment
by Dori Saltzman /When Princess Cruises’ next new ship, Sun Princess, debuts in 2024, it will feature three headline acts from the Canadian circus group Cirque Eloize. The immersive performances are being specially created for the ship’s The Dome, a top-deck, multi-level entertainment venue debuting on Sun Princess.
Three 20- to 30-minute shows (Blue, Come Fly Away, and Artbeat) will rotate onboard the ship, featuring displays that include aerial hoops, aerial pole, bungee, Cyr wheel, silks, and contortion. Performances will be complimentary with space in The Dome available on a first come, first serve basis.
“The Dome is a transformational space that creates a stunning vista with sweeping views of the ocean and creates an unprecedented setting to stage avant-garde spectaculars that will absolutely fascinate our guests,” said Francois Leroux, Princess’ senior vice president of creative design and entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring this collaboration with Cirque Eloize to life with three original shows, created specifically for this innovative and spectacular space on our next-generation Sun Princess.”
Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the 4,300-passenger Sun Princess will debut in February 2024 with a full season of Mediterranean cruises, followed by Caribbean sailings out of Fort Lauderdale. It will be the largest ship in the Princess fleet and the first to feature a theater in the round, a three-story main dining room, and will have the line’s largest ever casino.
