Disney Cruise Line took delivery of its highly-anticipated new ship, Disney Wish, during a traditional maritime ceremony held in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Disney Cruise Line president, Thomas Mazloum was on hand to take delivery of the ship, which becomes the fifth in the Disney fleet and the first new ship since 2012. After the signing, the line presented shipbuilder Meyer Werft with a Cinderella statuette commemorating the life-sized bronze Cinderella statue that sits in the ship’s Grand Hall.
Following the ceremony, Captain Marco Nogara took the helm for the transatlantic voyage from Bremerhaven to Port Canaveral.
Launching in July, Disney Wish will have 1,254 staterooms, of which 70% will have a balcony. Among with staterooms will be a new category of seven oceanview rooms located directly above the bridge, each with floor-to-ceiling windows for a panoramic view. The ship also has a new Royal Suites category with a Sleeping Beauty theme. Other highlights include six pools, an AquaMouse water coaster, and “Frozen”-themed and Marvel-themed restaurants.
