Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has temporarily consolidated its TSA PreCheck and CLEAR security checkpoints.

The change went into effect on Wednesday to accommodate for construction in one of the airport’s terminals, which is expected to be completed in 2026, according to the Austin American Statesman.

Heads up, travelers: Clear and TSA pre-check will be available at Checkpoint 2W starting tomorrow, May 8th
Travelers who use general screening will be able to use Checkpoint 1 or 2E.

Representatives from the TSA and the airport both confirmed that the change will not negatively impact passengers.

“The change consolidates PreCheck and CLEAR to one checkpoint, which means there is now a central location for both staff and customers,” a spokesperson for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport told TMR. “While there has been concern about reduced capacity with this change, there is no reduction in lane availability.”

TSA Precheck and CLEAR passengers will now be directed to Checkpoint 2W, which has seven lanes.
