Effective Sept. 1, 2025, Air India will suspend its service between Delhi and Washington D.C.
The airline said it made the decision primarily because of fleet issues, including retrofitting 26 of its Boeing 787-8 aircraft, making them unavailable until at least the end of 2026. This, combined with the continued closure of airspace over Pakistan, led to “increased operational complexity” that forced the airline’s hand.
Air India is offering those with tickets for flights after Sept. 1 either a refund or rebooking on other flights.
Despite the cancellation, Air India will continue its service into Washington D.C. from other U.S. gateways, including New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD), and San Francisco (SFO). It will also continue to serve Delhi via its interline partners: Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.
