New Uber Options for Airport Travelers: Uber XXL and Budget Rides

Uber is expanding its ride-share options again with a number of new services specifically targeting airport travelers. Here’s what you need to know:

Uber XXL for those with extra baggage

The new XXL service is one of several options Uber is rolling out this week ahead of the busy holiday travel season. The XXL service offers users access to larger trunk space, which Uber says is “perfect for airport pick-ups and drop-offs when you have extra baggage.”

The option is now available at 60 airports worldwide, including 40 in the U.S. and Canada, with more locations to come, according to Uber.

UberX Share for budget travelers

Another addition targeting budget-conscious travelers is a new shared ride option at airports. UberX Share allows riders to share their trip to or from the airport with one other traveler and save up to 25% compared to a standard UberX fare. The discount is guaranteed even if a rider isn’t paired with a co-rider after requesting the option.

UberX Share is now available at 10 airports worldwide: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Denver International Airport (DEN), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Miami International Airport (MIA), Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Outside the U.S., the option is available at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD).

Uber Shuttle and Uber Reserve expansion

Both Uber XXL and UberX Share come as the company continues to expand its airport offerings.

Uber recently launched a shuttle service in New York from Manhattan to LaGuardia Airport and is now expanding that service with a new route from downtown. The company also said it expects to roll out Uber Shuttle to additional airports soon.

Uber also recently debuted a Flight Capture feature through Uber Reserve, which lets users enter their flight details and receive recommendations on the best time to leave for a “stress-free airport arrival.” The feature alerts travelers if a flight is delayed, provides options to adjust their pick-up or drop-off times, and allows users to add stops to pick up travel companions.
