No Injuries After Air Canada Flight Veers Off Runway at YUL

Flights were delayed at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport after an Air Canada flight veered off the runway after landing on Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported from the incident.
“Flight AC774 arriving from LAX on July 9, 2026 landed normally at Montreal International Airport, then sustained a runway excursion and travelled through the grass when exiting the main runway,” according to a statement sent from Air Canada to CTV News.
The airline says there were 156 passengers and six crew aboard the Boeing 737 MAX. The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m.
Air Canada confirmed at 7:37 p.m. on social media platform X that all passengers and crew had disembarked the plane. The aircraft was towed to a hangar for a full inspection.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada confirmed to CTV News that it has opened an investigation into the incident.
Following the incident, the emergency coordination centre at the airport was activated, resulting in a runway closure, which caused delays into the evening.
“To facilitate the safe evacuation of passengers, the North Runway has been temporarily closed, which may result in operational delays,” an airport statement said. “Passengers are encouraged to check the status of their flights before travelling to YUL.”
As of 9:55 p.m., the runway had reopened, an airport spokesperson confirmed in an email to CTV News.
