Several Lufthansa Crew Injured in Boeing 787 Nose Gear Collapse at Gate

Several Lufthansa cabin crew members were injured when the nose gear of a Boeing 787 collapsed at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday.
According to reports, the nose gear of the jet unexpectedly collapsed while the aircraft was at the gate preparing for its next departure. Passengers had not yet boarded, Lufthansa said, but crew members, as well as ground staff, were onboard at the time of the incident. Several of those crew members were receiving medical treatment as of Thursday, according to a Lufthansa statement to Reuters.
The aircraft—a new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registration D-ABPQ, delivered this past January—sustained serious damage to its forward fuselage during the collapse. The plane was scheduled to operate Flight LH450 to Los Angeles, and the airline subsequently canceled the flight and re-accommodated passengers on alternative flights.
